Review of breakfast and lunch place Studio 2, Amsterdam

Rain, rain, rain. Today was a day with typical dutch weather, a lot of rain all day. My friend needed to go to a shop with Chinese products on the flower market, so we decided to look for a place to go there. Half way through the flower market on a corner we ran into Studio 2. Studio 2 offers all day breakfast and lunch and has a nice view on the flower market from the seats in the window.

When we came in, the first thing I noticed was the nice, art deco style decoration of the place. We took a table that was free in the middle of the place and took the menu. Next to all day breakfast, they offer a lot of different kinds of sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and different styles of eggs, eg. eggs sunny side up, omelettes etc. I decided to take the omelette, since I hadn’t had one in a long time. The waitress that took our order was very friendly and took no trouble to accommodate the wishes of my friend concerning a yoghurtless shake.

Our drinks arrived quite quickly after placing our order. And my omelette was also brought to our table very soon after, quite to my surprise. I thought it would have taken longer. They must have an efficient kitchen staff. The omelette came with 2 slices of toast and some garnish salad. Even though I had asked for an omelette with only tomatoes and ham which was not on the menu, I got a ham, tomatoes and cheese omelette which was. Since I have not problems which cheese I didn’t complain.

Half way through my omelette some seats in the window opened up, so we decided to move there. The waitress was quite quick in taking away the dishes of the former occupants. From the window you can see all the people passing on the flower market, which today were not so many as usual due to the unrelenting rain. Also the place was filling up more and more, especially with spanish tourists.

When we were finished my friend went to the bathroom and I went to the counter to settle the bill. The bill was not correct, in that they charged me for an normal plain omelette instead of the one I had, but hey it was cheaper for me I gave them a big tip though to compensate.

Studio 2 is a terrific place on the flower market. Great decoration, friendly staff, quick service and nice food. Give it a try when you are in the neighborhood.
