Saturday afternoon, you are shopping with the rest of Amsterdam and surrounding areas in the center of Amsterdam. You feel like taking a coffee, but where do you go… Bagels & Beans? No, full. Coffee Company…hmmmm full too! Saturdays are very busy in Amsterdam, especially with good weather, so it is always hard to find a nice place with free seats. Luckily we have a small secret place that most of the time has seats free even on a Saturday. Le Cafe in de Kalvertoren!
Located in the V&D in the Kalvertoren at the end of the Kalverstraat and being in a corner next to the stairs, probably it is not noticed too much. Also Le Cafe serves the same products as La Place across the street, but has a smaller selection of course. They have some fresh juices, sandwiches, soups, sweet things and of course different kinds of coffee. It is a self-service buffet where you get what you want from the selection and then you pay at the cash register. You also order your coffee there.
This time we took a latte, a cookie and a brownie. The latte tastes quite good and of course the sweets as well and best of all it is not that expensive. We paid less for 2 coffees and 2 pastries here than for 2 medium lattes and one pastry at the Coffee Company.
Le Cafe is a good place to grab a coffee or a juice while shopping. You can watch the people go up the stairs while you are there. Now let’s hope it stays quiet, now that the secret is out
