Dim Sum CourtLast night we wanted a quick bite to eat and didn’t feel much like Subways or MacDonalds and we already ate a quick wok meal this week. So on the way to Rembrandtplein we came across Dim Sum Court on the Rokin close to the V&D department store (there are 2 more locations close to Leidseplein and on the Zeedijk). The formula of this place is simple. There is a buffet with different warm Chinese dishes (meat, fish or vegetables in sauce, fu yong hai, fried spring rolls, rice etc.), some cold sour vegetables and of course dim sum where the place gets its name from. The dim sum are in baskets being steamed. There was not a great variety in dim sum when we were there yesterday though, but maybe that was because we were there rather late.

When you get in the place, you pay €8,50 per person to the girl behind the cash register and she gives you a plate. Then you pick one of the free tables, which have placemats and utensils, and you attack the food in the buffet. Drinks are not included in the price and can be gotten from the vending machine. I think all drinks were €1,50. And then you have one hour for stuffing yourself. I think no one makes it to one hour though, because after the second plate you are quite full.

The food is of okay quality and they refill the buffet quite often. And at these prices you can’t complain ;-) Even when we were there quite late yesterday and it was rather quiet they still refilled the buffet with new stuff. Overall the service is quite friendly. We were three and the tables had only 2 placemats and sets of utensils, but the girl came immediately with an extra set.

Dim Sum Court is a good place for a quick Chinese bite or if you feel like binging on Chinese food for one hour for only 8,50 :-)
