Review of restaurant 1e Klas, Central Station, Amsterdam

Today we went to a place on Central Station, located on track 2B, called 1e Klas (first class) and the decor of the place is first class! With high painted ceilings and woodworks it is really in the style of the central station building. It’s just worth coming here to have a look at it.
When we got here there was no place at the seats in the window, so we took a table. But as soon as we settled down a window seat opened up and we moved to there. The view from the window is beautiful, you look right down the Damrak street. I could see some of the high rides of the carnival on Dam square. I couldn’t hear the screams though

After we had a look at the menu, the waiter came to our table. I have to say he was not very friendly and very short. When my friend asked about the marinated chicken, the waiter also didn’t know what it was marinated in. In the end we ordered a marinated chicken sandwich and a steak sandwich and for drinking I had an apple juice. The drink arrived quickly and was served from a bottle and in a wine glass. The sandwiches came a little later and look very appetizing, although simple.

The sandwiches were standard white bread. The chicken tasted okay and was marinated in sweet chili sauce as far as we could tell. The steak sandwich had a generous amount of beef and a type of cocktail sauce with it. The garnish salad was quite standard with chopped veggies and some lettuce. The whole steak sandwich with the garnish and the sauce looked very eighties. And the music in the place was a best of the eighties CD, so that completed the picture

When we had munched down our sandwiches we felt like a coffee. At that moment there was another girl serving a table close to ours. We flagged her down and she turned out to be the opposite of the waiter earlier. Very warm and friendly and she advised us which cake to take with our coffee. The coffee and the cake were great, especially the coffee was of good quality. After we finished we asked the girl for the bill, paid up and left. The bill was not so bad (€23,75) if you think of the location.

1e Klas is a recommendation to go to if only to have a look at the place and the view.
