Hidden about half the Utrechtsestraat is this place called Zuivere Koffie. I read about this place as a recommendation and it took us a little bit of searching before we found it. Zuivere Koffie is quite a cosy place, so be prepared to be close to your neighbors and to fold yourself a bit at the tables. Today was a nice but not too sunny day in Amsterdam, so we took a table in the door going to the small garden. Zuivere Koffie looks to be run by two middle-aged ladies who were chatting away in the open kitchen. My friend was quite interested in how they worked and thought it all to be a bit unhygienic, but I am still alive today, so I guess it wasn’t that bad
Also the place was full of young girls, I guess they were drawn by the motherly figures running the place.
Anyway soon after we sat down one of the ladies came to our table and asked our order. I took a fruit smoothie and a sandwich gezond, with avocado and cheese. And my friend took one of their specialties, orange juice with a dash of lemon ice cream in it. The juices arrived quickly and they both tasted good, especially the juice with lemon ice cream was quite interesting. A little later my sandwich arrived. It was nice, lots of fresh ingredients in there, but not too special.
While eating my sandwich I heard someone order a piece of orange cake, so I decided that I wanted to try to for dessert!
I took the cake with a latte of course. The cake was delicious! And the coffee was also of very good quality. My friend in the mean time ordered a frozen cappuccino to wake himself up. After finishing both, my friend had to go to work. So we went to the cash register to pay and the bill was quite friendly (€18).
Zuivere Koffie is a hidden treasure in the Utrechtsestraat with a nice small garden to have lunch. You have to tolerate the all girl audience though.
