After fleeing Bakker Nel, we went to a place we passed in the same street called Van Harte. It looked more inviting than Bakker Nel, so we decided to have a coffee here. The place was quite busy, but the crowd looked a bit wannabe trendy, so you have been warned.
Two girls were running up and down trying to serve everyone and I think that took a toll on their politeness. I think I would have been better for service if there was one person more for serving. I have to give credit to the girls, that the service was still speedy. We ordered two cafe lattes and we got a menu too. The lunch menu was more interesting than the previous place, but also a little more expensive. Since we already had lunch we took a piece of chocolate cake as dessert and ordered a bonbon for €1,80, which made us curious. Waiting for the cake and bonbon I spotted the extensive drinks menu, which was meant more for the evening I guess
The chocolate cake arrived a little later and the girl promised to bring the bonbon soon after, making us more curious. We already dug into the cake, which looked home-made and tasted quite good. Then the girl came with a plate full of bonbons and then my friend could pick one. I think he make a wrong choice, because it tasted like a snickers bar
So the 1,80 bonbons are not a recommendation.
After another coffee, we decided to go for a walk, because we were getting a bit sleepy for the dark ambiance in this place. We went to the bar to pay, but it still tooks us some time to get the bill, the girls we still running around like crazy. Van Harte is a nice place to go to, the service is still fine even though it’s busy, although not so polite anymore
