Tibetan momoTashi Deleg has been around for some time in the Utrechtsestraat. Before it had only a Tibetan menu, but I think business was not going that well, because they closed and when they reopened, they also had a Indonesian menu and added the name of the Indonesian restaurant down the street to their name. Anyway more choice! :-)

When you sit down you get both menu’s and you can choose anything from either menu. We decided to go for one of the fixed menu’s of a little shy of € 20 per person. We got some Tibetan dumplings called momo as appetizers with some spicey sauce. They were really good. For the main course we got three dishes for sharing with some rice. The best dish was some kind of chicken with vegetables, the other two were with tofu and shrimp and tasted a bit bland. I don’t know how real Tibetan food is supposed to taste like though. Dessert we had to order separately, cause it wasn’t included in the menu. We took a typical Indonesian treat called spekkoek, which is some kind of cake, and a Tibetan dessert called deysee, which was warm rice with raisins. The last one was quite special. And for drinking I took a sweet yoghurt shake called Thara :-) And that’s the end of our little adventure into Tibetan cuisine.

The waitress was friendly and hospitable and quick. I took a while before we got our food, but I think that is because each dish is cooked separately by demand, so it takes it longer. So no complaints there.

If you are in for a try of Tibetan food with good service, be sure to come here.
