Review of restaurant Go Freshshop, Amsterdam

Another beautiful day in Amsterdam, so we tried to find a place outside for eating lunch. And with luck we found the Go Freshshop just off Rembrandtplein going towards the Amstel river. They had put a small terrace outside, which was still catching some sun, and as we arrived, another couple left, so we could take their place

The terrace was put around the corner of the entrance of the Go Freshshop, so the people inside could not keep an eye on the terrace. After waiting a little while, my friend decided to go inside to get a menu himself. The menu looked very appetizing, with sandwiches, salads, juices and even warm dishes for dinner. Everything is prepared on the spot, hence the name Go Freshshop

After waiting even a longer while and wondering if there was table service on the terrace, finally a guy came outside. He came outside the bring the cheque to the people on the next table, so on his way back inside we caught him and we could place our order. About 5 minutes later a girl came out to clear the tables and asking us if we had ordered already. A bit too late honey.

Anyway after some more waiting our ordered arrived brought by the guy who took our order. Everything was fine except, the guy was very moody. I guess he didn’t like having to slave in a hot kitchen on a beautiful like today. Also he brought me a tropical juice instead of the other juice I ordered, but I decided to let it slip. The chicken and beef sandwiches we ordered were delicious though! For dessert we wanted some coffee with date cake. Since no one came outside anymore, my friend decided to order inside, only to learn they only had one piece of chocolate cake left So we only took a cafe late, not the best I had, and then paid and left to have a look at the Waterlooplein market.

If you want a place where you get fresh, on the spot prepared food, this is the place to go. Only don’t expect too much of the service, especially on a sunny day

update: This Go Freshshop has closed and has been replaced by a chinese wok place. The Go Freshshop on the Vijzelstraat is still open though.
