Cafe BloemersToday was again a beautiful sunny day in Amsterdam. After going up and down de Dappermarkt I could use a rest, so we went to the other side of the Amstel and sat us down at Cafe Bloemers. We were hesitating to go there or the fusion tapas place next door, but finaly we decided to go for Bloemers, because there was still some sun on the terrace. Bloemers has a really nice terrace, decorated with wooden fences and flowers and even some garden swings.

Soon after sitting down the waiter came outside to take our order. I ordered a sandwich with fried egg and a strawberry-banana juice and my friend a latte. Their lunch menu has a wide variety of sandwiches and salads. The drinks arrived a little bit later. The juice tasted like it came freshly squeezed from a packet and not freshly squized there, but still better than juice from a bottle. The sandwich arrived about 10 minutes later. It looked tasty, but not something special. Here there were some minus points, because I had to ask for the utensils and a napkin. The sandwich was rather big and although I have a big mouth, I don’t it would have fit, so I really needed those utensils for eating and the napkin for wiping the sauce of my face! Also the coffee cup of my friend was chipped, so he asked for a new one. I have to say the staff is very pleasant and amicable and speedy, but they forget to pay attention to the details. After my juice and sandwich I also took a latte. The small cookie that came with the coffee was delightfull! And the coffee was ok too :-) The reaction of the waiter was a bit strange though when paying the bill. Maybe he expected more tip or something ;-)

A nice place with a big terrace for summer and pleasant, speedy staff.
