Today is a hot day in Amsterdam. I was surprised by it, because I left my house in my winterjacket. That was not a good idea
Anyway after meeting my friend and thinking were we could go, we decided to go to Bertram & Brood in de Negen Straatjes (the Nine Streets is a area in the older part of Amsterdam consisting of nine small streets
). We’d been there before and enjoyed it there.
When we arrived it was rather busy, but there was still one table free, so we took it. As the place was full and people were walking in and out, it took a while for one of the women working to take our order. They have an assortment of sandwiches and pastries here. Their drinks selection is rather limited to coffee and orange juice though. The women behind the counter were taking their time to prepare the orders, which was kind of annoying us, because in our opinion they could work a bit faster. Later I overheard that it had been so busy the whole day and that neither women had had time to take a break or have something to eat since they started, so it’s understandable that they weren’t so energetic anymore. And it speaks for them that they kept up their demeanor and still wished everyone a pleasant meal.
All in all I can still recommend this place, the people working here are very friendly, although not the fastest, and the products are of a good quality.

I was there today and bought appelflap, but when i ate it i found out it was old! I don’t like bakers that are selling old appelflappen from yesterday for new!
Hmm that’s not very nice of them to sell day old things as fresh. There is one bakery in the Leidsestraat that’s open till late that does that and that’s why I never go there. But I didn’t expect it from Bertram. So check the appelflap before you buy it!
They have the best in town man. I Love Bertram. Greats from mr italiano
