Our dinner at Restaurant Amsterdam started on a low note. The reservation that was made could not be found. Fortunately it wasn’t a busy night, so there were still tables free. Restaurant Amsterdam is located in an old factory building, which gives it a very distinct atmosphere. After being shown our table, we placed our drink order for a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. The water arrived, but after waiting 10 minutes more for the wine, we asked one of the waitresses. She checked and the order for the wine wasn’t in the system. That mistake was soon rectified and we got our wine.
The menu of Restaurant Amsterdam has a big selection, so after a while we had finally made our choice. All the dishes were fine, although for my main course I had a tilapia fish. The addition of whole fish on the menu should have tipped me off, because I got a whole fish with head and all the bones included. It was quite some work to get the eatable parts off and I was fighting with some fish bones in my mouth. The main courses are all served with french fries and salad which you can ask more of. For the dessert I had greek yoghurt with real honey and walnuts. It was delicious!
As it was getting rather late, we asked for the bill and left.
All in all a good dining experience at Restaurant Amsterdam, although the loss of the reservation and the wine order were minus points, the amicable staff and good food made up for those mistakes.
