In the Magna Plaza behind the Dam on the top floor, there is Cafe Ristretto. It’s an amazing location in the old postal office. If you can get a table at the balcony side, you have a view over the whole Magna Plaza. We went here just to have a drink. It was a good day today in Amsterdam, having lots of sunshine and high temperatures, so all the terraces outside where full of people and we had resigned to having a drink somewhere inside.

When we took a table, the waiter was almost immediately upon us for asking our order. We ordered some fruitjuices (large!), but were rather disappointed when they arrived. They were not fresh juices, but juices from a bottle and the large size was quite small (about 220ml), making the price of about 4 euro’s per glass rather steep.

It was rather late, so about 15 minutes after we arrived, the staff already started to clean up and taking the menu’s of the tables. At that time some people arrived and took a table. When the waiter went to the table, I was half expecting him to tell the people they were closing. But he took their order without complaint. Very undutch! ;-)

A place to go, with a nice view, for a coffee or some lunch, good service, but the prices are a bit steep.
