Yes today spring finally arrived for real in Amsterdam, sunshine and nice temperatures. So to celebrate the arrival of spring we went to have lunch out on a terrace. As usual when the sun comes out, everybody suddenly goes out. I always wonder were all those people were in winter. Anyway we were lucky to find a spot on the terrace of the Cobra Cafe on Museumplein.
The table had just been vacated, cause there were still glasses there. The waitress came to clear them away and she gave us one…ONE WHOLE MENU for the four of us. But since we are good friends we don’t mind sharing, but it was a bit impractical. Even when the waitress came out with more menu a few minutes later, we didn’t get an extra one.
Well after three of us having looked at the menu the waitress arrived asking us if we had made a decision yet. So while the three of us gave our order the fourth one had a quick look. Two of us wanted the rib-eye sandwich, but guess what… they were out of rib-eye! Quick decision what to take then….ehhhm tuna salad
The waitress went away with our order and the drinks came speedily after that, but then the waiting began for the food….
Half an hour later a stressed guy came out with our food. I guess they were pretty busy on the fist day of spring. But the food was there and we were hungry so we dug in. The bread and the tuna salad were nice, but not above average. Also the tuna salad had red peppers in it, which made it quite spicy, but there was no mention on that on the menu, so people who don’t like spicy might get a nasty surprise.
The Cobra Cafe offers reasonable food and service at an amazing location though, from the terrace you have a nice view of Museumplein and Rijksmuseum and you can watch all the tourists walk by ![]()
