Yesterday evening we wanted to drink a coffee and since coffee places are limited in the evening, we went to cafe De Jaren. We took a table and the waiter came quite fast to take our order. I think thursday and saturday evenings are the try-out evenings for people who want to work there, because I see a lot of new faces in the waiting staff those days, so they are still eager to work
Anyway after we got our order, the one-order-is-enough syndrom kicked in.
I guess opinions differ on this, but I think as a cafe you would want to make some money, so you instruct your staff to check on tables every now and then to clear them off and ask the persons there if they would like anything else. Not at cafe De Jaren. We were there for 2,5 hours on our first and only order. Probably there are people out there who don’t like to be disturbed or “looked-away” by the staff, but I think having a cafe is having a business and I don’t think we were good business for cafe De Jaren that evening ![]()
