Ok, I know this blog is dedicaded to the service industry in Amsterdam, but the service of the postal “service” has been so lacking that I feel I need to write about it. The first incident took place about 2 weeks ago. I had just come out of the shower when the doorbell rang. I answered the intercom:

- “Hello?”

- “I have a package for you”

I wasn’t expecting anything so I asked: “Who is it from?”

And then I got the polite answer: “Do you want it or not!”

Well having no choice really I put on my shoes and went downstairs and there was no one there! The delivery guy had already gone across the street delivering something else and waved me to wait. Then without a goodmorning or anything he says “write your name and sign here”. So I did. And then he couldn’t read my name, so he thrust the board back in my hands for me to write it again. And then he left, no goodmorning or goodbye. How rude!

But yesterday when I opened my mailbox I had the biggest surprise. There was a ripped open big envelope in my mailbox and the contents was below it. I concluded that the postmen had decided to open the big envelope and take out the contents and put them seperately in my mailbox, because with the contents inside the envelope wouldn’t fit through the slot. Hmmm as far as I know it is illegal to open closed packages that are not addressed to you! Bad mailman!
