Monday through wednesday you have all you can eat sushi at Tokyo Cafe, but on thursdays you have a deluxe menu all you can eat sushi with even more choice! So needless to say thurdays are really popular and reservations are needed. Having reserved almost a week in advance we thought we were guaranteed a table, but unfortunately the evening started with a low note. The man who placed you couldn’t find our reservation, so we were made to wait untill all the other arriving guests were seated. Then we explained that we already made the reservations the saturday before, we suddenly got a place at the sushi bar! Right next to the kitchen! No apologies or explanations. So big minus points for Tokyo cafe on that.
Also you have to know how the system works otherwise the waitresses feel happy to ignore you. You have to fill in the card on the table with the sushi’s you want and then hold out the card visibly untill the waitress picks it up from you. There are maximum 8 rounds and each round you can order 5 sushi’s per person. When your order for that round has been registered you get the card back. After 4 rounds we were rather full, so for the 5th round we order a dessert after which we never got our card back.
I have to say the sushi’s are good, especially the sashimi and the tepanyaki, so in the end of the evening we left completely full and satisfied, but the loss of our reservation and the placement next to the kitchen wasn’t made up for.
