“Do you know how Cafe de Jaren got it’s name?”

“Because you have to wait years to get some service”

A visit to Cafe de Jaren, it’s always a surprise how that will turn out, because either the service can be horrible or it can be okay. But they always seem to suffer from the one-order-is-enough syndrom. And still we come back to this place. I guess it is because it’s the only place where you can get coffee and cake till late in the evening (Where is Starbucks?!) This time we were there for dinner. The nice thing about dinner at Cafe de Jaren is that you get a free salad from the salad bar which your main course. Being dutch we love buffets and we get greedy at them. We made an art out of piling the most amount of food on a plate :-) This time the service was fine, although getting a second round of drinks was impossible to get. The food is fine for the price. Don’t expect the freshest ingredients or the most creative dishes though (rumor has it most food comes from the microwave). But for a quick meal with a free salad it’s great.
